Shepherd Gallery: Closing Reception in a New Space

I've been showing all my paintings in the new gallery in my home town since I moved in May. The gallery is in a beautiful stone building which has a long history. When I brought my work to the owner, her space was being painted, tracks needed to be hung, and unwanted furniture still needed to be removed.

Since then, she received a Pepsi grant and finished a lot of necessary renovations. I've been watching this project develop for a few years, helping when I could, and it's great to finally see my small town have a special space for the arts. The long-term plan for this historic building is to add a small kitchen for selling snacks and to host classes in the studio space upstairs. I can't wait to see what local artists will be featured in the gallery! The ripple effect that begins with teaching and exposing people to art will impact the town in a very positive way.

Below are images of the space from my closing reception on Saturday (all taken by my sister). I'm very pleased with the community support of the gallery and of my work--I sold 5 pieces!

    About the Artist
Molly Moser currently resides in Des Moines, Iowa, where she  finds lots to love in the people, the cultural events, bike trails, water, and farmer's markets. She continues to study art and to paint, draw, and take photos. Molly hopes to move west to attend graduate school.

Molly’s paintings explore the relationships, emotions and interactions that occur between families, friends and partners, humans and nature. She creates interior spaces to tell these stories through the personal objects they contain.
